PROJECT HIGHLIGHT
Tired of warehousing documents that quickly became obsolete because of
changing technical specifications, we proposed a digital "print-on-demand" solution
to Canusa-CPS that saves them thousands of dollars annually in printing and warehousing
costs.
Canusa-CPS manufactures pipeline coating and protection products and their catalog lists well over 200 different products, each with specific
technical specifications designed to handle specific
environmental conditions. In this highly competitive
market, improvements are constantly being made to each
product and products are often customized on a one-time
basis to meet a specific job requirement.
Using traditional offset
printing to produce Canusa-CPS' product
specification and installation guides meant that large
quantities had to be printed in order to achieve a reasonable
per unit cost, but it also meant that whenever a documented
needed revision, a warehouse of unused pieces went to
waste. Working with one of Canada's leading digital colour
printers Hume Imaging, METROPOLIS shifted the production
of Canusa-CPS' entire document library to an on-demand digital colour printing
system that has significantly reduced waste and warehousing costs.
