What We Do and How We Do It

At METROPOLIS, we design, build and manage communication programs. But we don’t necessarily do all three for every project. Sometimes we’ll design and build a web-site, and then pass it off to our client to update and maintain. Occasionally we’ll code a site or develop an application based upon an existing creative framework. Or we will brainstorm a program or develop aesthetic parameters that will actually be executed by another party.

We’re pointing this out because each of these stages requires quite a different set of skills, tools and methods. And we think we’re pretty good at each of them.

Design and Creative Development

Good creative isn’t just about the ‘look-and-feel’. Good design starts with a thorough understanding of the business and communications challenges as well as the context in which you will be talking to your audience.

Whenever we undertake a design project we ensure that we include certain elements and address relevant issues:

• Intuitive and logical information architecture.

• Context – In what environment are they viewing this project? How does that impact their interaction with it?

At METROPOLIS, we don’t just design communications programs, we actually build and execute what we design – and sometimes what other people design. So we have an intimate understanding of the implications of creative elements when the rubber hits the road and the mouse hits the pad.

We have well-developed project management processes to ensure that we keep the project on track while keeping you in the loop. These nuts-and-bolts aspects might seem somewhat mundane and un-sexy but they make for successful projects.
